Car Importers Club - A Work in progress......

John Porteous  | Published on 4/24/2018
This Car Importers Club is a "work in progress" and will evolve going forward as membership grows and members contribute to the content.  While I realise I have included a lot of cautionary detail for new members signing up, this is deliberate. The fact of the matter is, given the disciplines we use in selecting motor vehicles to import, in the vast majority of cases things go according to plan and successful outcomes are achieved. There is the chance things will not work out as hoped; this is life, and the reality for some. When this happens to members of the Car Importers Club, we are here to help. We don't run away, we work beside members to help them navigate the difficult waters they find themselves in. In a worst case scenario money could be lost; but this eventuality is rare indeed.

On the other side of the coin, success is the option the vast majority of members will experience. This happened just this week when aa associate member took ownership of a 2015 Nissan eNV200 fully electric van, which had less then 2,000kms on the clock. "How can this be?", some ask.  How can a vehicle manufactures in 2015 have less than 2,000kms on the clock in 2018?  To understand this, you need to understand how things work in the Japanese Auto Industry.

Let's take a Japanese Domestic Nissan Vehicle Franchise, for instance. They are committed to taking a nominated number of units to sell every year. They have to take their allocated units each year, whether or not they sell them. Those not sold in a particular year are often held over and offered to clients at a discounted rate. Keep in mind that the Franchise is promoting the current year's inventory at the same time. As a rule of thumb, Japanese buyers like to buy the current model, not last years. Commercial interests will buy the discounted un-current models to get a price advantage to fulfil their inventory requirement, but there are often un-current vehicles that cannot be sold into the Japanese domestic market and so are sent to the Japanese Auto Auctions where buyers from other countries snap them up.  Guess what?  This is where we come in.  At Car Importers Club our members have the opportunity to import a premium vehicle at a price advantage that is simply not possible elsewhere.

Someone who is not yet a member of this Car Importers Club phoned me today asking if I could help them import  a Mazda Atenza. I can, of course, and have encouraged them to join the club to source their dream car at a huge price and quality advantage.

I am now retired, and I am focusing on fully electrical vehicles as a personal import option. I don't need to import very many to subsidise my pension income.  The first Nissan eNV200 fully electric van has gone to an associate member as I mentioned previously, and the second is on its way to New Zealand as I write.  I have no doubt the second unit will be sold very quickly; as was the first one. I have submitted a price to buy a late model 30KW Nissan Leaf, which, if I manage to secure, will be offered to Car Importer Club members at a huge discount compared to similar options available at other local vehicle dealerships.

This is a club, members are the most important aspect of this enterprise. While it his internet based, there is the possibility that monthly meetings could be organised where members could meet to interact with each other, discuss options, thereby growing in confidence to import their very own "dream car" from Japan at an advantage not otherwise possible.  It is up to members to communicate their wishes with me in respect of anything associated with the concept of the Car Importers Club.

Don't hesitate to get in touch with me about any thing close to your heart, in regard to importing that very own motor vehicle that you have often dreamed of.

Have a great day
